Chapter Seventy Four
Simon nervously walked with the old man making sure to walk slow and careful, but not show the fear he felt.
The old man found the bench he sought and motioned Simon to sit down. The old man looked around and tried to peer into the brush along the trail. His dark spirits reassured him the two sat alone. “You and I have a job to do, see. You need to get down to that church and find out who the principal actors are, you know, the inner circle.”
He waited, trying to see what effect his orders had on Simon. “We need to take ’em out. All of ’em, see? No excuses, no problems, just get it done. I’ll be on hand personally to do my part. I’m not going to take a chance on things going wrong this time. Got a special plan for the crowd around the parking lot, of the permanent type. Watch out for those bikers. They have a special sense about them, warning them of danger. Even my dark legions can’t break through. You have enough explosives?”
Simon could only nod. Sitting next to the old man, a living legend in his circles, feeling the dark evil was too staggering for Simon to acknowledge.
The old man shifted his seating. Looking down at his withered hands he knew this might be the end. “Look Simon, if you play this right, you’ll be in line to become my second. You know what that’ll mean? You’ll have access to more power than you can fathom.”
The old man sighed and moved to get up. Simon stood away in respect. He felt dark evil join with that already present, giving him a head rush of power. So, this is what it feels like. I feel like I could conquer the world. I will pull off this job, and then some, whatever the powers want me to do…
