Slowly and bitterly I walked into the direction of the infirmary.
How could I have been so blind? How were two alphas able to hide amongst my pack for so long? Am I really that weak?
I felt inside of myself changing, it was like my soul was being dipped in black, a kind of darkness that knows no boundaries.
The Moon Goddess said the Prenstons were having twins, and I have to kill the first born.
The first born is supposed to be the new Beast.
How dare these traitors.
They were the reason Angela died. They were the ones Milan the Beast Hunter was looking for. They were the reason why my life fell apart.
I walked into the infirmary, and I could already feel the tension in the air, regardless, Narrisa Prenston plastered an uneasy smile on her face.
“Alpha, we had twins. A boy and a girl.”
“Is the boy the eldest?” I asked and she smiles.
“No, our baby girl is. Her name is Naomi.”
“Let me see her,” I said.
Should I even wait until they are sleeping in the night to kill her and them, or should I just do it now?
Ashton Prenston took the baby in the pink blanket from her mother’s arms and carried her over to me.
Pack member or not, this infant will become a monster and she must die.
I look at the infant, starting blankly into the eyes of the Beast.
‘Mate.’ My wolf whispered in my head.
‘Are you sure?’ I asked him.
‘Are you that dense? Can’t you feel it?’
This makes no sense, why would the Moon Goddess make me the Beast Hunter and make my mate the Beast? Why would she do that?
First Angela and now my mate? Why do I have to lose everyone? It’s not fair!
“The Prenstons will give birth to twin alphas. The second born represents the good in the world and the first born represents the evil in the world. Kill the first born.”
It’s their fault why Angela is dead. If they had given up themselves to Milan she wouldn’t have to protect those undeserving scums!
“I want this baby dead,” I ordered.
“Alpha why?” Narrisa gasped. Ashton stepped away from me and went to his mate’s side.
“Traitors,” I said before leaving.
I stormed into the library and found the Book of Everandia.
Since I was a child I was always forbidden from looking into this book, and Angela always made sure it was always far out or my reach.
But I’m the Beast Hunter of Everandia now, I have a right to look in there.
I looked up Beast Hunter.
It said a Beast Hunter is chosen at birth by the Moon Goddess to defeat the Beast of Everandia. The Beast is a one and two-headed dragon known as the True Beast and the Faux Beast, who has both a Natural-Lycan gene and the gene of a dragon. The True Beast occurs when a Natural-Lycan Alpha with the Beast gene has mated to his true mate, whom also has to be a Natural-Lycan Alpha, which will result in a dragon with one head. The Faux Beast occurs when a Natural-Lycan Alpha with the Beast gene mates with anyone that is not his true mate, which will result in a dragon with two heads. The two heads symbolize the incomplete and impossible union of two wolves who were not destined to be. In order for a two-headed dragon to be, the Lycan that carries the Beast gene and his chosen mate will have to merge into one being, but there are consequences. One of the two will die.
All this time I thought only one kind of Beast existed. The last Beast was a two-headed dragon, I guess he must have died then.
The more and more I flipped through the book, the more mesmerized I became.
The book flips back the pages to the ones about the Beast and text started to glow.
“Only the Beast can kill the Beast Hunter and only the Beast Hunter can kill the Beast.” I read aloud and then all of a sudden, fire came out of my hands and set the book on fire, shocking me as well.
What the hell is happening?!
′It’s a good thing I got to this before she did.′ A dark voice said in my head.
′Who are you?′ I questioned, startled.
′You know who I am.′
Suddenly I felt a pull on the pack bond.
“Someone just left the territory,” I said aloud.
An anger started to boil within me yet again, but this time, my urge to kill was much stronger.
How dare they flee.
How dare those traitor run from their deaths!
‘Kill them.’ The voice said in my head.
Red and stained.
What the hell even happened? The last time I checked I was in the library, what am I doing in the woods?
Why am covered in blood?
All I could make out from the mess in front of me were some kind of bloody remains, and a baby in a blue blanket.
His cries whaled in my ears and I growled at the crying child threateningly, he was immediately quite.
Is that the Prenstons child?
If so, then where is the girl?
18 years later...
“Klaus, I expect the negotiation with the Blue Crescent Pack to be final today. I assume you will see things through.”
“Yes, but the girl, are you sure? You know of her circumstances. She won’t survive the ring.”
“I know. But she will.”
Naomi Prenston, it’s time.
