(II) Chapter 27 (The Key)

After having stayed some time with Leandro, I went to check on the owner of my heart, again. I knocked at his door.

"It's open." I heard his reply. Feeling slightly relieved, I opened the door and stepped in.

He was busy searching some boxes on the floor.

"What are you doing?" I asked softly.

"Going through my old stuff." he replied, not looking up at me. He was clearly preoccupied.

"I came earlier and knocked. You were asleep I guess." I went on.

"I wasn't."

I frowned a little.

"You heard me?"

"Yes. Didn't want to open." was his plain reply as he went on with what he was doing.

I stood there, a little surprised and irritated all the same.

"I see." I replied and turned to leave.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"To my room." I replied dryly, not looking behind.

"Wait. Are you acting up?" he asked, causing me to stop and turn.

"I'm simply going back to my room." I replied, plainly.

He stared at me for a while.

"I just needed some time alone to reflect." he said suddenly .

"Did I ask you anything?"

He raised a brow.

I couldn't lie I was pissed. Why hadn't he said that from the start instead of acting like he didn't even want to see my face? Of course I was acting up.

I didn't reply and just stared blankly at him. He shook his head.

"You should probably just go to you room as planned."

What was taking over him?

"That's what I was doing before you spoke again."

"Fine." I scoffed and left.

What had just happened? Why was he so cold? I hated it when Anthonio and I had problems. Especially stupid ones. But I had that ego too. I would not say a word to him until he apologised.

I could be stubborn too.

The next morning, I was in the kitchen with Leandro when Anthonio stepped in.

"Hello in here." he said. He was clearly in a better mood than the previous night. I wasn't.

"Hey." Leandro replied. I was busy frying some eggs.

"Guess what I found." he continued, getting both our attentions.

"What?" Leandro asked.

Anthonio took a strange key out of his pocket and showed it to us.

"A key."

"Where's it from?"

"My old stuff. Found it in one of my old bags. I think I'd stolen it but I don't remember where. The fact that it didn't look like any other key in the house made me take it, hoping to find what it could open. I never did find, though."

I saw that particular broad smile spread on Leandro's face.

"If that key succeeds in opening any of the remaining locked doors which turn out to be the blue room, I'll give you that my particular golden watch." he said.

"You're lying."

"You know me too well." Leandro laughed.

"Exactly. Let's wait till afternoon before going to try the key on the remaining doors."

"Okay. While waiting for afternoon, lemme go have some fun." Leandro stated, putting his mug down.

"There are pleasure girls up there, called by the boss for the members. So I'm going to chose one or two. Depends. Catch you later." he said, leaving the kitchen.

My head had been down the whole time, ignoring Anthonio.

"Keep one of them for me, Leandro." Anthonio yelled after him, causing me to immediately look up at him in shock.

But it was a trap. I found him smirking down at me. Of course

he'd said that to see my reaction.

"Who the fuck are you smiling with?" I asked dryly, immediately turning away.

Anthonio chuckled and approached me.

"Stop right where you are. I'm not kidding." I stepped back, as serious as ever. That didn't affect him as he was more than amused.

"What have I done?" he asked innocently.

I ignored him and continued to work.

"Baby, I told you I needed time to think yesterday. I wanted to be alone."

"Good for you." that wasn't the problem.

He smiled.

"Or is it because I ignored you. Just this once?"

"Oh did you dig your skull to find that answer?" I asked, sarcastically.

"Okay my love. I'm sorry. Very sorry."

I played hard to get and didn't answer.

"You don't wanna forgive me?"

"I'm sorry."

Still no reply.

"Since you're ignoring me, I'll just do same then." he turned to leave and my dumb ass couldn't resist it.

"I forgive you." I mumbled reluctantly.

He stopped in his tracks and turned.

I looked up at him.

"I said it's okay. We're good." I repeated.

He smiled.

Lazily but not reluctantly, I went into his arms for a warm, tight hug.

"I love you, stubborn head." he chuckled, kissing my head. I smiled against his chest.

"It's your dick I love."

"Oh wow." he chuckled and I laughed.
