It was a long day today. After that horrible evening at dinner with the Reid’s, I left Alexander to himself. Not wanting to further our conversation. Who does he think he is. First he practically rope me into having dinner with him and his family then he dragged me out before I got to finish my food and now I am starving.
I enter my home only to be welcome with a warm hug, “There’s my baby boy. Why aren’t you in bed?”
He just smiled at me.
“Oh Xan, come on buddy, let mommy rest.” Charlie popped his head in.
Xan my sweet two year old little boy is growing up so fast. Even though I would have a long sometimes terrible day at work all I have to do is get a hug from Xan and he puts a smile on my face.
“Any time girl.” He smiled back.
A few minutes later Xan was already in bed tucked in. I did my usual routine then read him a bed time story.
Charlie and I sat in the living room in my small two bed room apartment. I know for a lawyer why not spend more money on a house. Well the bigger the house the more I’ll have to clean and I hate cleaning.
“Well what?” I look at Charlie.
“Tell me how was dinner.”
“It was fantastic.” I didn’t hide the sarcasm in my tone of voice.
“Sure sure, now spill.”
Charlie was like my best friend. I met him a three years ago and we just click. When I was sad he was the one to wipe my tears, when I was angry he was acting like a fool, when it was trouble that I was in he was never far away from me. I’d like to think we are a dynamite duo but who are we kidding, as much as Charlie was always there for me he was more like a giant teddy bear which fits well with his 6 feet wide frame muscular body.
Though some people when they look at him they feel a bit intimidating until he opens his mouth.
Looking at him I had told him what happened.
He nodded and nodded some more, “Well what do you think?”
“Girl that family is crazy and I never met them. First you have the bimbo girlfriend, then the bipolar boyfriend and the psycho ax murder of a father. I’d feel sorry for his mother. If I were you I’d stay away from them. You do not what Xan around those type of people. By the way his mother wasn’t there?”
I Laid my head in his lap where he rubbed my head gently, “No and I for one am glad. If a mom can put up with that she must be worse.” I laughed “Thank you for being here for me. I love you Char.”
“And I love you too never forget that baby girl. I will always have your back.” And with that I fell asleep.
Next morning I awoke to someone jumping on my stomach, “Morning baby boy.”
“Hi momma, I hungry.”
I look to my left to see Charlie also wide awake.
“Come on bud, I’ll make you some eggs and sausages. Momma can’t cook to save her life.” He chuckled.
“Hey...” I threw a pillow at him.
Xan sat there giggling.
“What, it’s true.”
Charlie left to make breakfast while I was playing tickle fest with Xan.
“Breakfast is ready.” Charlie called out.
During breakfast Xan was telling me a story to which fascinated Charlie.
“You’re such a kid sometimes.”
His lips curled, “I’m a big kid....So what time is your hearing.”
“In 3 hours plenty of time.”
I looked at the caller id when my phone rang, “Ugh...its Reid.” I stared at my phone waiting for it to stop ringing.
“Well aren’t you going to answer it?”
I shook my head no.
Charlie being the aloof as he is grabbed the phone and answered it in one of his deep manly voice, “Allison’s phone.”
I couldn’t hear the other side of their conversation just mainly Charlies, “Yeah wuz up dude?”
Dude? I playfully slapped him.
Charlie just smiled.
“Um...sorry Mr. Reid but she’s busy actually where busy....” he held the phone back and was yelling, “Hon, where the red underwear with the pink bunny and red bra to go with it.”
Oh my god, I can see where he is going with it.
“What!” I had heard Alexander yell through the phone and cursing at the same time.
I on the other hand couldn’t stifle my laughter, good thing Xan was back in the living room watching cartoons.
“What the hell is going on Mr. Putton.” Clearly I could hear Alexander on the phone yelling now.
“If you must know, I just finished having her for breakfast and believe me she tast....”
Before he could finished I quickly covered his mouth, I could feel Charlie wanted to burst out laughing but instead he licked me.
“Char, don’t lick me.” I said that quite loud to where Alexander was suddenly yelling on the phone.
I quickly grabbed the phone and at least tried to change the subject, “Mr. Reid, is there a reason for you to be calling me early in the morning?”
I could hear his breathing on the other end as if he was trying to calm himself down, “Is it true?”
“Is what true?”
“Did you have sex with him?”
I paused for a minute before replying, “I’m sorry Mr. Reid but that’s none of your business. We are merely employer and employee and what I do in the bedroom is of no concern of yours.”
“Fuck Ally, just answer the god damn question.”
I could imagine his veins right now popping out and his eyes bulging out of his sockets, his jaw hard, “Mr. Reid I’m tired of this. We are both professional here...I do not appreciate your bluntness towards me, we are nothing more as I said co-workers. You hired me to check your contracts now if you cannot handle it then I will resign.”
There was a pause, “No, wait. I called to apologize for yesterday’s dinner.”
“It’s no problem at all but maybe it’s the lawyer in me but I am a bit curious on this will your father’s talking about.”
He didn’t answer and the phone went silent but I could still here his breathing, “You know what you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to but sometimes getting a third person view might help you with your issues.”
“What are you doing tonight?” Just like that he avoided the topic.
Suddenly Charlie began kissing my neck and making sucking noises.
“What is that noise?” I get a feeling his anger is rising again, “Nothin....Char stop I’m ticklish.” I laughed through the phone.
Again Alexander was trying to say something but it was interrupted by my son, “Momma...”
Before Xan had spoken another word I turned my attention towards Alexander clearly waiting for me to respond, “Sorry Mr. Reid but I have to go.” Like that I hung up.
