Chapter 20

Arriving back home, I called Helen right away. My phone has thousands of text messages from her and Ben. They weren’t happy and thought I was ignoring them. I couldn’t tell them much but only that I had a lot of family problems that I needed to take care of and I will be M.I.A. for a couple of days.

If anything, I didn’t want them to get involved or worse get hurt. Lucifer’s men doubled since we arrived back home. He wanted to make sure I was protected. A part of me wondered why he would go to such lengths to protect me. I was no one special. I never done anything for him to owe me anything. He could just get up and leave at any time but here he was standing before me as he talked business into his phone.

He hasn’t gone into work but I knew that he was very much needed. The club needed someone there to keep an eye on it to not get the cops snooping around and judging by the anxiety in his eyes I knew he knew this as well.

After he hung up the phone with Chase, the guy that was his partner in business he walked up to me and sat on the coffee table across from me.

“What do you want to eat?” He asked.

I sighed and moved to cup his cheeks. “Lucifer, I am fine. You have men guarding your place, if Jim even so much tries to get to me, I am sure he will be dead before he can blink. You can go in to work tonight and I will be safe. I promise.”

He looked hesitant. “Work should be fi-”

“Seriously? I know you need to go in. I can see it on your face.”

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “Chase has it under control.”

“He does but it will be better if you were there.” I responded. “Go and when you come back I will be here.”

Lucifer looked like he wanted to fight me further and I sighed as I pushed him toward the door. “Go.”

He nodded and proceeded out the front door. I watched him leave before going into the bathroom and into the bedroom to take a shower. After taking a shower, I walked out with a towel wrapped around me as I went to go find my bag that Lucifer left on the bed. I shuffled through the clothes until I found a plain light grey t-shirt and a pair of jeans before walking to his bathroom and used my brush to brush my hair. I was just about done brushing and was going to sat my brush down when my phone buzzed on the bathroom counter.

I moved to pick it up and unlocked my phone to see a multimedia message from an unknown number. I clicked on it and the image took a minute to download. It was dark and looked like Lucifer’s club. My breath caught in my throat when I saw Lucifer chained to the wall with a message on the bottom.

You know what you have to do, mouse.

Jim’s name flew into my mind and I ran like crazy out of the bedroom and out of his pent house. When I reached the garage, two guards straightened up when they saw me. They walked over to me.

“You can’t leave.” They stated.

“I have to go.” I said.

“We are on strict orders that you are to remain in the pent house until he gets back.” The younger one of the two moved to grab my hand. I jerked my arm away from his grasp before pushing him into his partner and bursting into a run.

I heard them swore under their breath before I heard their shoes hitting the floor in pursuit. The club wasn’t far. Driving here took about 10 to 15 minutes. I could take short cuts but before I could make any decision I slammed to the ground. The man above me pinned me body to stop me from struggling.

“If you leave Lucifer will have our asses.” The man above me spoke in a thick accent.

“If I don’t leave your boss will die!” I shouted angrily.

The man above me stiffened. “What do you mean?”

“Get off me!” I struggled harder. He moved a little to give me room to move away but he kept a firm grip on my elbow. I handed him my phone and he saw the image. He picked up his phone and began barking out orders in a different language. He turned back to me and then continued to speak into his phone.

I watched them until their backs were turned. My eyes moved to entrance that wasn’t so far away for me. I can make it. I made a run for the door. I knew they weren’t going to let me leave and Jim’s instruction was clear. I needed to come alone. I lived with him long enough to know this and if I didn’t listen to his instructions Lucifer’s life will be in danger.

I ran like crazy, my legs were aching and my lungs were not getting enough air. I wished I had squeezed some time to run. I am not use to this. My feet pounded on the ground and I didn’t risk a glance back. I passed several stop lights and took some alley to get there faster.

I threw the door to the club open. Music boomed in the air and I made my way toward the door that Lucifer took me into the first time. The environment change and the fast beat music transferred into a soft erotic music. I knew Lucifer was in a private room. I walked deeper into the club until I recognized someone that worked with Jim.

His eyes met mine and for a moment we stared at each other. The man was like a brother to me. His name was Keith. He and I grew close when Jim started using him as his right hand. He walked over to me and grabbed my elbow.

“You are really an idiot, Rayna.” He growled low in my ear.

“You and I know Jim and we both know he doesn’t fuck around.” I responded with no emotions. He sighed and looked me over.

“You look good. I am sorry that he found you. I really tried to steer him away but he is fixated, Rayna.” Keith said gently.

“Enough, Keith. Just show me where you guys have Lucifer.” I didn’t want to feel anything. I was still very angry and hated my past and even though Keith was there for me when I needed him he was a part of my ugly past.

He nodded and took me to a door. When he opened I saw Lucifer look up. The moment he saw me he struggled hard against the chain. The sound of the chain rattling can be heard over the erotic music. My eyes moved to find Jim sitting in a chair with a gun in his hand. His eyes looked me over menacing and in a way, that had my skin crawling.

“Oh, baby, baby. You always listen well.” He murmured.

Keith pushed me inside along with him before closing the door behind us. He moved to stand by the corner with his hand behind his back. My eyes moved back to Lucifer and Lucifer looked furious.

“What the hell do you think you are doing?” Lucifer growled.

“I couldn’t leave you.” I whispered. “If I didn’t come he would’ve killed you in under an hour.”

“Fuck, Rayna!” Lucifer shouted angrily and yanked on the chains hard. Marks mirrored on his wrist. I licked my lips and tried to take a step toward Lucifer but Jim clicked his tongue.

I turned back to look at him. “Let him go, Jim. You have me now.”

He smirked threateningly. “Baby girl, we are just starting.”

“Don’t you dare do anything to him.” I took a step toward Jim and Lucifer hissed in warning for me to stop. “Let him go, Jim. You have me. If you hurt him, I swear to god you will not have me.”

Jim chuckled. “Oh you have gotten feisty over the years, babe.”

He stood up and walked over to me, he used the muzzle of his gun to push my hair back to expose my neck. Running the muzzle along my neck he moved to stand behind me. His hard arousal pressed to my back as he wrapped one arm around my front and pushed me up against him.

Lucifer was growling angrily and yanking on the chains harder. “Let her go. Don’t you fucking touch her!”

Jim pushed me hard to the left and then flatten my torso against a table, leaving my ass hanging out at the edge.

“What are you going to do about it? How about I fuck her right in front of you?” Jim chuckled. “She’s a screamer.”

Tears ran down my cheeks as I felt Jim pressed his hard on my ass before rubbing my back with his hand and then moving to cup my breast. My eyes sought the only thing that kept me sane and it was Lucifer. He looked at me as I looked at him.

“You fucking motherfucker! Don’t you fucking touch her or I swear to god I will fucking kill you with my bare hands.” Lucifer was roaring.

Jim yanked my hair back and I cried out in pain. “I will do anything but you will have to let Lucifer go.”

Jim glanced between us. “You really love this guy, huh?”

Lucifer’s eyes met mine and something passed between us. A tear rolled down my cheek again. “I do with all my heart.”

Lucifer’s breath hitched and he yanked on the chains harder. Jim didn’t like the answer and in one swift movement tore my shirt open. I cried and covered my front with my hands. His calloused hand ran over the skin of my back and goose bump crawled over my skin in disgust. I cried harder to the point where I couldn’t stop.

“Shut the fuck up!” Jim shouted.

“Get the fuck away from her.” Lucifer roared and I have never seen anyone as angry as him.

“Yea? What are you going to do about it?” Jim smirked and yanked my hair back so hard I had to lift up my torso. He moved to cup my breasts and then thrust his arousal to my ass. I cried harder as I pushed his hand away but he jammed the blunt end of his gun to my head. Everything around me spun. I heard Lucifer shouting.

The next thing I knew, Jim was off me and flying across the room. His gun knocked out. I turned around to see Keith standing in front of me, blocking me from Jim.

“I’m sorry, love.” Keith whispered. “I should’ve done this before and I failed you.”

“What the fuck do you think you are doing?” Jim roared.

“You are a fucking sick bastard, you know that? How the fuck can you live with yourself for hurting a woman?” Keith said vehemently as he approached Jim. He grabbed Jim on the collar and threw a punch to Jim’s face. “You destroyed her life and you couldn’t leave her alone you had to chase after her again.”

“You fucking traitor. You’ll fucking be skinned alive after this. I won’t let you-” Keith punched him harder. I heard something snap and then Keith dragging Jim to the chair Jim was sitting on earlier. Slowly he cuffed Jim to the chair.

I sniffled and moved to stand in front of Lucifer. I buried my face in his chest as he buried his face in my hair. He couldn’t hug me but his closeness was enough to calm me a little.

“Fucking stubborn chick.” Lucifer growled.

“Fuck you.” I replied through my tears.

Keith chuckled as he approached us with a key in his hand. He handed to me and I moved to unlock the cuffs. Once all the cuffs were off, Lucifer took off his shirt and threw it over me. He turned to Keith and was about to punch him until I grabbed Lucifer’s hand.

“He’s a friend.”

“If he is a friend he ain’t much of one.” Lucifer muttered.

Keith rubbed the back of his neck. “Sorry, man. Jim is a fucking psycho but I couldn’t take it any longer.”

“I’m glad you did something or else I would’ve to fucking kill you.” Lucifer retorted and with swift movement he yanked me into his chest and hugged me tightly. He buried his face in my neck and I wrapped my arms around his waist.

“I love you too.” He whispered in my neck.

The door burst opened and Chase came storming in with Rafe. Lucifer pulled back to look at them. They looked like they were ready for battle. When they saw Jim strapped to the chair they turned to Lucifer.

“You two need to work on your fucking timing.” Lucifer said angrily.

“Well it looks like you got everything handled.” Chase said with a smirk.

“We got lucky.” I whispered and turned to Keith. “What will happen to you?”

He chuckled. “Don’t you worry about me, love. The gang is ready to lose that fucker and find a new one. He’s tearing us down.”

He turned to face Lucifer. “Do what you need to do. My work here is finish. You won’t be bothered by us again.”

I pulled back and moved to hug Keith. “Thank you for saving me.”

“Sorry it took me so long.” He replied. “Be good, Rayna. See you sometime.”

Keith made his way out of the room and disappeared. Lucifer wrapped his arm around me and pulled me away from the room and from an unconscious Jim. I turned back to see Chase and Rafe walking toward Jim and I knew that I didn’t have to worry about Jim. He will not be alive to see the sunrise.

Lucifer and I walked out of the club and toward his car. He waved his hand to the driver to go and then moved his hand to cup my face.

“You alright?” He felt my face and the back of my head. I winced and he moved to look behind.

“I’m ok. Just a bump on the back of my head.” I muttered.

He cupped my cheeks again and kissed me hard on the lips. “That was the scariest moment of my life. Next time, stay home when I ask you to. I don’t ever want to go through that again.”

I smiled weakly. “Ok.”
