Tick Tock

The clock is ticking.

Every heartbeat is a loud chime
Resonating through your body
Touching the very core of your being.

That’s one less second you have left to live.
To laugh.
To love.

One less second to live your dreams,
To write your story,
To leave your legacy.

It is the heartbeat of a stopwatch
Zooming to the finish line
To win first place against the race with time.
But it is you who holds the power.
You who decides when to flip the hourglass
And extend the lifeline.

Every heartbeat is a drum beat in the march of death
Signalling to the world that your time is coming to an end.
But do not hang your head
And walk into the clutches of death as a prisoner.

Look around.
You are not alone.
So join hands with your brothers and sisters,
Your friends and your lovers,
Your uncles and aunts,
Your parents and cousins.
Lift your head proudly
And show the world
You were made for more,
That your wings are unfurled.

Leave your mark.

The clock is ticking.
