Prologue

This tale begins not too long ago on February 23,2000. Personally I'd say that it was perhaps the greatest winter known to man kind. I was born, although I was born in Arizona so technically it wasn't snow flakes and snowball fights like we all hope.
If you picture your life up to this point what do you see? I am almost 18 so I assume I'm supposed to move on to the adult part of life.
Funny how that works out, one day we are children and then suddenly we are adults. Forced to grow up and become responsible. Truthfully I hate that word it sounds so uptight, I don't find anything wrong with letting go and letting life find you.
We all begin life in the same way. We eventually cry and feel the shock of entering a new world. If we could remember what being birthed felt like I think we'd all be traumatized.
I really want to lie and say I'm some child prodigy that some how can recall every detail of my life but come on let's be real. My first real memory is a strange one. I was strolling down a giant hallway. ( I was wobbling down a normal sized hallway because I was young and short and probably still not great at walking) My family was somewhere in Oregon, we were visiting friends of my parents. I was likely around 3 or 4, there weren't any other kids at the house besides my older brother. The people had crazy furry creatures I had never seen before and it fascinated me.
Later I would learn they were cats. What a small world!
Suddenly I get pulled into a room and the door is shut behind me, I don't see, only hear the door shut because I'm busy falling into the floor face first. When I finally managed to get up I looked up to see my older brother Elias.
"Natalie I need your help" he whispers. I stare at him in wonder. "Help me trap the girl cat, under here." He says as he lifts up a clothes hamper.
Why, I wonder but don't speak. Instead I stand up and just look at him. He goes into the hallway and comes back carrying the creature. I step back a little. He instructs me to close the door while he put the cat under the clothes hamper.
He proceeded to try and hump the cat but only managed to get quite a lot of scratches. We also learned later that there hadn't been any girl cats there. My brother thought he was gay for a long time after that.
What makes a memory stick? Did you know memories aren't really how the situation happened completely? They are constructed and maybe even formed differently based on the emotion you felt during the event or how you feel while recalling something.
So I begin this in the clearest mindset possible. Journey through my life with me, maybe we'll unlock some mysteries together.
