Chapter 30: Mira
As she arrived in the estate, the first person she spotted was her own mate, Cohen. Even when she was still in her vehicle, she could recognize the Alpha’s strong frame anywhere. She let go a sigh of relief when she saw he looked like he already healed from her claws stab a week ago. It had been a week, but she still couldn’t let go of the fact she had hurt him. If Vincent wasn’t there, Cohen would have lost his life. That kind of guilt would eat Mira for the rest of her life. Even now she still felt guilty. She didn’t mean to hurt him. Every time she laid her eyes on him or caught a swift scent of his, her control would be thinning.
Mira wasn’t so sure anymore if killing Damien would able to snap her blood ties with him to make it was easier for her to control the demon wolf. After what she had caused in the cabin, it would be more than just snapped the blood ties. There was no way it would be that easy.
It took enormous strength in her not to run back to Cohen after Vincent commanded her to leave the cabin while her monster was being murderous.
Nobody knew the fact Mira never left Cohen’s territory after the incident in the cabin. She stayed at a very good distance because she wanted to make sure that Vincent was taking care of his wound. For the whole week, she hid at a tree, not very far from the pack mansion and watched Cohen in his bedroom.
The glass door of his bedroom’s patio gave her many glimpses of the Alpha’s body especially when he walked out of his bathroom with just a towel around his waist. Sometimes he would stand on the patio without a shirt as he looked ahead. He would always look like he was in some deep thoughts. The scar on his abdomen was proof she almost took his life.
As long as she carried this curse with her, Cohen would never truly be safe around her even if Damien died. Bloodlust wasn’t something she could control after snapping the blood tie. There would be something else fueling the bloodlust.
Now, she was here in the same area as Cohen. Mira took a deep breath while her eyes fixed at him. Her hands clenched into fists when she saw Giovanna hugged him and held onto his arm as if Cohen was hers, to begin with.
Her eyes spotted many familiar faces included Vincent who was standing near the water fountain. Even with the mask he was wearing, she still could recognize his face.
The driver stopped the car a few feet away from Cohen and his group. Mira stepped out and his eyes met hers. His eyes trailed up and down her body while she was walking up the stairs. As soon as she entered the mansion, she grabbed a glass of champagne from the waiter before she walked around the place and talked to many un-mated male werewolves until a hand was placed on her lower back. It sent tingles to her body before someone took her glass.
“Would you like a dance?” his voice rung in her ear.
“If it’s the handsome gentleman, yes, I would like.” She smiled as her hand rested on his right hand. “Figured you wouldn’t stop.”
Cohen guided her for the dance. “Why did you run away from me?”
“After what I did, why did you want me to stay?”
He leaned towards her earlobe and brushed his lips against it, “Darling, if you’re still expecting me to reject you, I’d suggest you forget about it.” He spun her around and made her back connected to his chest. “I don’t let go of what’s mine. You are mine and only mine.” Cohen placed a feather kiss on her exposed shoulder.
“It was my fault you got hurt,” she whispered. Mira spun to face him again.
“You would hurt me more if you leave.”
“Cohen, you don’t understand.”
“I know what you are and I don’t care. I would fight the entire world for you.” he leaned closer. “I’ve waited for so long to have a mate. Now, I have you as my mate. Understand me, darling, I would never let you go even if you kill me.”
“Why are you so stubborn?”
Low chuckles erupted from his chest. “Darling, I was born to be a stubborn person. Either we both work this out willingly or I tie you to my bed and keep you as a prisoner for the rest of your life.”
His tone was so low and husky it sent goosebumps to her body. Mira savored the feeling when his warm breath hit her skin. Everything about the Alpha was triggering her sexual desires.
“Make up your choice, darling,” Cohen whispered before he planted another feather kiss on her shoulder as he continued, “I’d give you time.”
As she thought about how he would tie her to his bed, Mira felt aroused at the thought. There was nothing kinkier than got tied up on her mate’s bed while he made love to her. Mira wondered if this could truly be her happy ending.
She wanted to answer him, but her eyes fell onto Erdington. Her prey had entered the venue at last. He took forever to get inside the mansion. He walked to the bar to get a glass of bourbon before whispered to some girls. They were giggling to something he had said before one of them hooked her arms around his. Women and blood, those two were Erdington’s weaknesses just like Gregory. To them, women were just an instrument of lust and pleasure.
Looked at him right now made Mira felt nausea.
As much as she wanted to spend the rest of the evening danced with Cohen as if the entire world stopped spinning, Mira had to make a move with her target. Erdington wouldn’t mingle around for so long before he felt triggered by something. It was now or never.
“I have to go,” Mira said, but she was already stepping away from Cohen’s embrace. Her body instantly missed the warmth of his body.
