Chapter 14

The next week or so went by in a blur. Tyler had been showing me the ropes when it came to managing the pack and its properties. Things between us were getting better, but it was obvious we still needed a lot of work. Hailey had most of the coronation planned and today I would be fitted for my dress. I made it to the living room and sat on the couch, waiting.

Hailey strutted in with an older woman by her side. Her hair was dark, not black but close, and she was short. Her smile lines led me to believe that she was a nice woman and that this wouldn’t be too painful.

“Hello, Ms. Adams. I am Linda and I will be fitting you today. Hailey had left me with very specific requests but I figured I would ask you about your ideas as well.” Her voice was calming. She spoke slowly, like she was comforting a small child.

“Thank you, but I’m sure what ever Hailey has picked will be suitable. Fashion is more of her thing anyway.” I gave her a smile before I was pulled into the bathroom.

The dress was beautiful as expected. The dress she chose had a high, lace neckline once again. The lace stoped at my shoulders this time, as there were no sleeves, and the back was open.

The dress was fitted at the top but loosened at my hips. The bottom flowed down into a short train. All along the bottom there was lace detailing and its obvious this dress was made for something special.

“Damn, I know I picked this out and all, but it looks good!” Hailey broke me out of my trance and I simply nodded along. The dress did look nice and I know everyone will love it. Hailey really has a knack for these things.

The rest of my day was spent with Hailey, who insisted on doing my hair for the coronation. She wanted time to practice before hand and my head was starting to hurt. After a few hours of me begging her to stop, she let me go.

“You’re such a baby! I wasn’t even pulling that hard!”

“Hailey, you literally pulled out my hair. Sorry that I want to keep the rest of it intact.” She rolled her eyes at me before walking to the kitchen. We ate some dinner before I went to the office.

On my way down, I could here Tyler talking with someone on the phone. It sounded like he was arguing and I was too nosey to walk away. I stood near the door and listened in. His phone must have been on speaker because I could here the person on the other end relatively well.

“What do you mean you can’t find them? Look harder.” Tyler’s voice was threatening, laced with intention to harm someone.

“Sir, it’s not that easy. I assure you we have our best men looking for them.”

“Well either get better men, or find them. I will not have this be an issue for much longer.” With that the call was ended and I heard him get out of his chair.

I quickly made it look as though I had just got to the door and before I could walk in, the door was opened.

Tyler inspected me for a moment before stepping to the side, allowing me in. I went to my desk, which was sat directly across from his, and sat down. Where his desk was black, mine was white. Cliche, I know.

Our desks were across the room from each other but I could still feel his gaze on me everyday. I had done my best to dress like a Luna would, professional yet inviting. However, seeing Tyler’s face every time I wore a pencil skirt never got old.

Today was no different. I wore a dark grey pencil skirt with a white blouse. The heels were black but I didn’t feel the need to wear anything to colorful. I was just spending the night with him after all.

Our nights together have gotten more comfortable. The silence wasn’t so bad and I could tell he was trusting me with more stuff. Today he had given me the plans for a restaurant he’s opening in a human city near by. It would be nice to have a project of my own, that’s for sure.

It’s hard to believe humans haven’t found our kind out yet. I mean I suppose our packs look like small towns themselves but how ignorant do you have to be?

A stack of papers falling to my desk brought me out of my thoughts.

“This is the guest list for the coronation. I know it looks to be a lot but most people won’t stay for long. I need you to add whom ever you’d like. Get it back to me by 1 tomorrow.” I looked at the paper and nodded. There must have been hundreds of names on the list.

“Is there any way to shorten the list? This seems a bit much.”

“No. It would be disrespectful to not invite those on this list. I assure you it has been cut down immensely.”

I nodded, comprehending what he said but still not happy about it.

“When will it be happening?” I kept my attention on the papers, pretending that I was looking through.

“The coronat-”

“No, not that. The marking.” I set the paper down and looked up at him. His hands gripped my desk and for a moment I thought it would shatter. His eyes watched me as I stood to be at his eye level, well as close as I could get.

“That depends on you. I wont force you into it, but at the same time I have no choice.” He looked to battling his wolf for dominance. I could see his wolf wanted me now but Tyler was holding back.

If I’m being honest, the thought of him marking me was thrilling. Call me weak, I don’t care. I wanted him to mark me, I almost craved it. Teasing him was almost more fun though.

My craving for him kicked in within the first few days I was here. Hailey had been marked and seeing her with one made me jealous. It didn’t help that the bond does this to me on purpose, but I’ve been ready for his mark for a while.

I walked around the desk and made my way to his. I sat on it, one leg over the other. I leaned back and took him in. “Strange thing to hear from a man who was using it against me not so long ago.” Getting him riled up was always fun. His fists clenched and he was in front of me in an instant.

“I told you I wasn’t in the right state of mind. We’ve been through this.” And we had been through it many times. Each time he gave the same speech and each time I listened.

But not once did he realize I was teasing.

I was trapped on either side by his arms. I had never gotten him to the point of being this close to me. He usually kept his distance, as to not trigger his wolf, but this time I got him.

I sat up straight and grabbed on to his arms. I ran my hands along the muscle before resting them on this shoulders. This male was mine. For better or worse and so far, its been pretty bad.

There was a part of me that wanted to start over but the rest of me couldn’t. There we sat, him leaning over me and me looking up at him, both to stubborn to break the eye contact. There was a knock at the before someone came right in.

Tyler simply turned his head to look at the intruder. When he saw who it was, he relaxed a little before speaking.

“Good evening father. To what do we owe this pleasure?”
