Kingdom Tales

This is a well thought out, promising tale of true friendship. The story is full of great visuals and details and feels ripe for a younger audience, perhaps even the same age as the main characters. If so, I'm sure the series will become a fan favorite. The book as written could be cleaned up a bit - the time jumps threw me as well, and forced the writer to essentially re-explain what we've already seen. I'd also caution against giving away too much plot in dialogue and letting these vivid boys and girls a chance to "show" us who they are. Fun read!

Hleo

Although not a genre I'd normally gravitate towards this is a really good YA series that feels like movie waiting to happen. The story is very well laid out, and the pace is excellent. Characters are relatable and likeable and we're left at the end feeling the journey is worth continuing. The only areas that tripped me up were too much exposition, both in dialogue and story, that if trimmed would drive the story forward even better. Related, I'd like to have seen some moments mentioned in dialogue, as visiting past events would have added some extra layers to the relationships. The good news is that since there's more to come, I'm hoping we can get out of town so to speak.
