To Protect and Serve

I agree with Kdianastansel's review. It's extremely difficult to write edgy manuscripts when you like warm and fuzzy stories. Dig deep and add a little color to your writing, and your stories will become more exciting. You want to keep your readers guessing, so don't let your story become predictable, even when it is. I enjoyed To Protect and Serve. I will remember your character's and their struggles. I have the same issues, so I'm talking to myself as well as to you!

Shoal Hope

An extraordinary story and beautifully written. The author's description-of characters, places and emotions-is exceptional. For all readers who enjoy history and exceptional writing, this book is a gem. It's one of those books that challenges the mind and stirs the emotions. If it hasn't been published, it should be.

Riverside

An extraordinary story, but the author needs to work with an editor. Part of being a great writer is finding and listening to proof-readers and editors who believe in your writing. If you want to create a tale that the public loves, you need to hone your writing skills. Good ideas alone rarely get manuscripts published! Keep working on Riverside. Rethink the title. If you can come with a title as clever as your plot, you will draw in more readers. Good luck. If you are willing to put in the work, this manuscript could be a winner.

Opus

An honest glimpse at the agonies that some, if not most, authors experience.
There is still some editing that needs to be done to the manuscript, and like his protagonist, Kelso has paragraphs that run on and on. Today's readers are into sound bytes and text messaging. If paragraphs are too long, the readers will either skip them or scan over them. (thus missing part of the story, especially the nuances)

There are elements of the story that are touching and extremely well-written. Anyone who has ever agonized over a manuscript, or yearned to be a best-selling author, could learn a few lessons from Alex.

Come Smile With Me

There's nothing I enjoy more that sharing an experience with someone who is courageous. Keep writing and sharing. All of us need to listen to people who inspire us. It gives me great pleasure to give you five stars. Good luck in all that you undertake.

A Fort in the Storm

Overall: excellent. It's a story that needs to be told. I would have preferred to have Adam the center of the story. At times, it appeared as though the author was performing a balancing act between Micah's story and Adam's. Micah's story brings richness to the story, but should it have equal emphasis? Just a question.

Missing Person

Excellent piece of work. The story is timely. Sometimes a simple premise can have great impact, and Fine's premise does. The heroine is refreshingly flawed. It's a delight to read a mystery that is steeped in logic.

Memory Chasers

I didn't read Harry Potter so I can't offer a comparison. I love the characters; quirky Erik, Rachel, Moe and Rena in particular. The story was engrossing, and the conflict (internal and external) kept me reading. Ideal beginning for a series.

The Tower

The Tower is a universal story of hope. For my money, genre isn't important when the writer tells a good story and takes an honest look at the state of man. A little more tension would make the manuscript even more exciting, but that's a minor detail. Like most first and second drafts, there are still a few typos that can be easily corrected; but hey, who's counting. Rock is a indeed a hero, one worthy of acclaim and one who's story should be told. Thank you for a memorable read!

No Looking Back

Reading No Looking Back was a pleasure.

A sweet love story that needs depth. Flesh out your characters a little more. If Riley has gone through difficult times, she will have good and bad personality traits. Add a little edginess. You need to throw in an element of surprise, good or bad, that makes your story different from other love stories. Be fearless. Take chances, and always write from the heart.

Not at Liberty

I can't judge the technical aspects of the story, but otherwise, it's a winner. The author has excellent writing skills, and has given her characters well-defined personalities. Like the title and the readability of the writing. Great job, and good luck with your writing journey.

Chemical Numbers

I am by no means an authority on fantasy manuscripts, but I know good writing and good stories when I read them. Excellent job. Like your concept. Check your next to last paragraph. "but I wraps" Be sure that your final scene is without flaws.

The Plainview Lottery

Love tongue-in-cheek humor. It's good to know that there are still a few people like Mr. Miller left in the world!! Not many, I'm afraid.
Refreshingly different. Well written and perceptive. My favorite quote: "Remember this James: buying lottery tickets is not an investment. It's an expense."
Keep the humor coming.
