Chapter 3

I look around the room and see people who look familiar but I can’t seem to place where they look familiar from. The room we are in looks old. The paint is chipping off the walls, the floor squeaks whenever someone shifts their weight, there are holes in the ceiling where water is dripping from. Outside I can hear the sound of rain pounding down on the roof. I can hear the other people talking in hushed, gentle, voices but I can’t hear what they are saying. I’m there in the room but it doesn’t seem like the other four people can see me. There is an older man who has graying hair and the beginning of a beard. The lady who is sitting next to him looks about the same age as him. She has short brown hair that goes to her shoulders. Her hair is starting to get gray. Across from them is a younger girl and boy, maybe there kids. The girl is young, maybe 6 years old. She has long light brown hair and green eyes. The boy next to her is about 13 years old and has the same light brown hair that looks a bit too overgrown as it covers his brown eyes. I try to think why they look familiar but I can’t make a connection. I try to move but realize that I can’t move except for my head. “Hello?” I say but it seems like no one can hear me. “Hello?!” I say louder hoping they could hear me and explain this to me but no one responds. I look around confused when the door behind me slammed open.

7 men rush into the room. One comes up behind me and grabs me. I get pulled up to my feet and I hear a scream coming from the other people in the room. The other men swarm around the other people in the room. I hear a man’s voice behind me say, “kill them.” Then I see 4 of men bite the other people’s neck and suck their blood. I scream having to watch them do this to them. I feel a sharp pain in my arm. I shoot awake screaming. I sit up and the first thing I see is someone kneeling in front of me. It’s the man who got me at the store.

“You alright?” I hear him say I try to say something but I can’t seem to get it out. “Edlynn?” He asks me again. I just stare at him blankly not sure what to say. “Edlynn come on. Come sit on the bed.” He says reaching down grabbing my arm gently. I hesitantly get up with his help and he leads me over to the bed still holding onto my arm. He sits me down on the edge of the bed and sits down next to me. “Edlynn, what happened?” He says softly looking at me. I look into his eyes and notice that they don’t seem as red as they were before, actually, they were a shade of brown now, a darker shade. He had let go of my arm and is now holding my hand in his lap, rubbing his thumb across the back of it.

“I-I-I.” I take a deep breath trying to calm down. I don’t understand why this is affecting me so much, I don’t even know the people. “I-I had a dream. There was four other people and me in a broken-down room. Then these men came through the door. One grabbed me while the others drank the blood of the other people in the room.” I pause and look up at him. His face shows that he is confused but I ask him something while looking at him, “what were those people who drank their blood and why did the other four people seem familiar to me?”

He looks at me puzzled. “What’s wrong?” I ask looking down at my lap. Suddenly I feel his grip on my hand tighten and I whimper as it starts to hurt. I try to pull my hand away and I look up at him seeing his eyes are now a cherry red color and he has fangs that are hanging out his mouth. “Master you’re hurting me,” I say still trying to pull my hand away. I see that he looks angry but I can’t do anything to get away from him. He gets up off of the bed and pulls me up to my feet. In the blink of an eye, he pins me against the wall next to the bed. He has one hand on my neck and the other next to my head. The hand around my neck is holding me up to where my toes barely skim the ground. My hands hold onto his arm as my breathing gets heavy. I close my eyes thinking that this is where I’m going to die and I don’t even understand what I did wrong.
