Chapter 25

The car approaches this large home covered in stone. The house is covered in large windows and around the front of the house is brightly colored flowers, stones leading to the door, and a yard covered in bright grass.

The car pulls into the driveway and Andrew opens the door then lets me out after him. I smile and grab his hand tightly as he leads me down the stone path to the front door. I nervously squeeze his hand as he knocks on the door.

The door quickly opens and in front of me is a tall woman, almost as tall as Andrew. Her height was intimidating and made me hide more behind Andrew in fear. She gives me a warm smile. She has dirty blonde hair and blue/green eyes. She has soft facial features that make her seem nice.

“Hello Andrew and who’s this?” Andrews stepmother says looking at me.

“Hi, Jessica. This is my girlfriend Edlynn.” He says giving my hand a squeeze. I smile softly as she moves to the side and lets us in. Andrew told me a little bit about his stepmother before we got here but didn’t mention much of his father.

He pulls me up the stairs and to the room we are staying in. I smile as I look around the hallway and see pictures of Andrew’s family. He opens the door to our room and I let go of his hand walking over to the bed. I still felt exhausted even though I slept most of the way here. The time change was definitely throwing me off. I sit on the edge of the bed looking around while stiffening a yawn. Andrew chuckles sitting next to me.

“Looks like someone’s still a little tired. It’s okay to lay back down.” He says as he rubs my back. I smile and rest my head against his chest. He lays down and my head is still on his chest. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep quickly.

......

I wake up to a wonderful smell of dinner. I roll over, seeing that Andrew is gone. He’s probably up and downstairs already. I get up off the bed and walk to the bathroom to check my hair. I run my fingers through my hair than head downstairs to find Andrew. On my way down the stairs, a voice coming from an open door catches my attention.

“Well hello there. Come over here.” Says the mystery voice. I walk over to the open door and peek inside seeing it’s an office. There’s bookshelves on one side and a couch near them. Across the room is a large wooden desk and a man sitting behind it. The man looks similar to both Andrew and Eric. I slowly walk in listening to what the man said.

“Yes, sir?” I ask softly my voice barely audible in the room. I hear a deep chuckle and look up to see the man staring at me.

“So you must be Andrew’s human?” I look up at him but don’t say anything. He gives me a cold-hearted look as my eyes lower to the ground.

“Looks like Andrew hasn’t taught you very well.” He says in a low, husky voice. “You should know to answer when you’ve been asked a question.”

I stare down at the floor still remaining quiet. I turn around wanting to leave and find Andrew but as I reach the door hands wrap around me slamming me against the wall. I try turning my head around to look at him but it doesn’t work.

“What are y-you doing?” I stutter out. My body begins to tremble as he turns my body around pinning my wrists above me.

I watch his eyes examine my body. His eyes lay upon the bite marks on my neck. He smirks looking at me and moves his face closer to my neck. I try pushing him off of me but it doesn’t work. All of the sudden heavy footsteps become louder outside the room.

Andrew appears in the doorway and rushes overthrowing his father on the ground. He pulls me out of the office and into his room. He looks over my body with a frightened look on his face

“Are you okay? What did he do to you? Did he hurt you?” He throws questions out at me.

“I-I’m okay Andrew. He didn’t h-hurt me.” I sputter. He doesn’t say anything as he pulls me close to him. I snuggle my face into his chest wanting to forget the encounter I just had.

“I’m sorry. I was hoping my father wouldn’t be here. Why don’t you stay here while I go get our dinner?” He says as I nod and kiss his cheek.

A few minutes later Andrew walks back in holding two plates full of delicious smelling food.

“Here you go. Jessica made some pasta with fresh garlic bread.” He sits down next to me on the bed and hands me my plate.

I take a bite and let out a small groan at the delicious flavors of the food. “Andrew, this is delicious.”

“I’m glad you like it. Jessica is a really good cook but not as good as my mother was.” He says with sorrow in his voice.

“What happened to your mother?” I ask softly knowing that it could be a difficult topic.

“She passed away when I was younger.” I just nod my head slowly as I hug him gently.

“Why did your father act like he did?” I ask looking down at my lap.

“He doesn’t like humans. I really thought he wouldn’t be here because he never usually is home. I’m really sorry that you had to meet him like that.” He grabs my hand and kisses the top of it gently.

“It’s oka-” I get cut off by a loud bang sound as the door flings open. I look up at the same time as Andrew and my jaw drops as I see who’s standing in the doorway.
