Chapter 1

I was just leaving Carly’s granny’s pet shop after taking my cat - Saber - for a check up, when suddenly a dog started barking. Freaking out Saber sprang out of my hand and dashed off down the road.

“Saber!” I yelled running after my cat, which was being chased by the dog. Just my luck, really - notice the scarsm.

The dog seemed to get tired after a while and gave up chase, but my cat –which was a house cat-, was scared out of its wits so much so that she kept running. “Saber, stop!” I yelled after my cat, not giving up chase, but my stupid cat took a sharp turn to another street, not heading my yelling.

Letting out groaned I dashed after it. When I too took a sharp turn following my cat I noticed someone their and skidded to halt, so that I wouldn’t crash into that person but instead I lost my balance and went crashing to the side-walk (scratching my knee and palm’s in the process, might I add).

“Ouch!” I muttered under my breath, still lying flat once the ground.

“Hey are you okay?” a male voice asked me as a pair of converse came in front of me. But I could swear that he - whoever he was - was trying not to laugh as he asked it.

I moaned out in pain and replied. “I think so” I sat up rubbing my head and winced in pain. I had scratched my knee more than I thought. “Might I ask what you are doing on the floor?” Whoever he was, he asked, I was inspecting my wound and still hadn’t look up to see who I was talking to.

“Trying to fall asleep” I said sarcastically, still inspecting my wound. If there is one thing I hate the most, it is blood. It’s just too gruesome to me, even the blood of a small cut. I accidently touched it and yelped out in pain.

“Who are you?” He asked sounding for some reason amused. Who know what I looked like, surely I was a mess.

“Sydney” I said almost sub-consciously. Still not looking up to see who I was talking to, when suddenly two hands caught both my arms and pulled me up. I yelled “HEY” when he did it, but it was too late, he had already pulled me up, straightening me so now I stood up.

“Sorry” he said holding his hands up in surrender “just trying to help”.

I don’t think I could have replied even if I wanted to. That was because I was staring at the most hottest, populest guy in my whole school. He had the most piercing bright green eyes that any girl would love to stare into. It could capture anyones attention. he had black hair with brown highlights and it reached his shoulder. he was tan - what with always playing football - and well built. And damn he was tall, at least 5′11. That is exactly 8 inches taller than me.

Good lord in heaven, my life was so over.

Why, you ask? Because despite his really good looks he was nothing short of a jerk. He was rude and cocky and to add to effect he played with girls like they were nothing more than toys to be used and tossed aside. Yeah, I do mean that he was a player.

I guess my face wasn’t looking horror-striken as I felt, seeing as how he went on in a chirpily tone “Your welcome”.

“Huh?” I muttered dumbly, looking at him feeling a little lost. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with me? I wasn’t usully one to go all dumb, I see Cam and I can’t cone up with something more intellectual to say to him. As if I wasn’t feeling stupid enough.

“For helping you” he provided at my cluelessness, looking at me in this very weird way. Probably thinking I was mad or something.

“Oh right, Thaknx” I said, smaking myself hard. I gave him a sheepish smile lookin around for someway to get out of this conversation.

“Fir a pretty girl like you anytime” he said bowing mockingly.

I gave him a blank look. “Your kidding right?” I asked sounding a little too annoyed even to my own ears. Was he blind or something? If he wasn’t then I must’ve heard him wrong because I thought he just called me a pretty girl. Yeah, right! I’ll buy that when hell freeze over.

He just raised his eyebrow at me like he didn’t understand what I was asking him about. What made it hard to buy was the fact that there was a small smirk playing once his lips.

“Forget it” I said with a grunt, waving my hand in dismissal, I didn’t want to cause a scean in the middle of the road and specially didn’t want to blow things out of propotion. Adding to the fact that I was still trying to find a way out and my mind was coming uo with completely nothing. I seriously can’t believe my brain is out of anything to say when I desperately want it to work. I usually always had something to say. I couldn’t stay two seconds without talking. I meet Cam Striker and my mind is blank, zitch, nada, nil, nothing.

If it wasn’t for my stupid cat I wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place. That stuck me with an idea.

“You didn’t see a cat run past by any chance did you?” I asked him, might as well ask him since I wanted an escape anyway. Plus that had gone completely missing, by the time Cam had pulled me up and I’d have to look for it anyway.

“Cat? No” he said shaking his head and looking around.

“Now where did that stupid cat go to?” I mumbled to myself, looking around for any sing of Saber. Great! I just lost my cat. Carly is so going to kill me when she learns of this. That girls take her love more seriously than I do and that is saying something. Dear god please help me!!!!

“ S’cuse me. Did you just call me an idiot?” Cam asked me his eyes narrowing dangerously.

I gulped and said “no I called my cat stupid.” Okay, I more like cried it, throwing my hands up in frustration and all. He was probably gonna make my whole high school life misarable if I offend him, which I completely did not need. My life was complicated enough as it is, I really did NOT need to add Cam in the mix

Instead of taking offence like I thought he would, he out right laughed at my obvious frustration with him. I looked at him thinking that maybe he was a little off in the head or something, because I sure didn’t say anything that funny for him to laugh so hard.

“I don’t see any cat.” He said it in a cryptic way when he got himself controled - after I threw him a look asking if he was nuts. I really didn’t like the ways he implied it. Like I had some sort ofbother plan for meeting him or something.

“I know” I moaned ignoring his cryptic tobe and clutching my hair as if I wanted to pull everything out. That is how frustrated I was. Then I looked around and screamed.

A cat just ran high speed out of someone’s garden, at the same time a car came barreling down the road and knocked on the cat. I swear if Cam had not grabbed me I would have jumped in front of the car to save the cat and gotten run over myself. At that time I didn’t realize that he had actually wrapped his hand around my waist to stop me (what I meant was grabbed me).

Once the car passed us by, he let go of me and I stumbled forward and knelt next to the cat.

“Please don’t be dead, don’t be dead, don’t be dead” I chanted as if it would bring the cat back to life if it indeed was dead. I was kinda getting freacked out myself seeing all the blood. In case I didn’t mention anything earlier, I completely and utterly detest blood. the sight of it make me sick to the stomache and fell light headed. I woukdn’t mind just a tiny scratch like the one one my knee or my palms. But the one once the cat was a little too much for me to see.

“Hey calm down, the cats not dead” a voice said very close to my ear and I turned to see Cam kneeling next to me, his face too close to mine.

Though I hate to admit it- his words did calm me down, whereas not a moment ago I was freaking out for just having met him (not in a good way). “I’ll take it to Carly’s granny’s place, at least she would have a better I idea what to do” I suggested to Cam, asking for advise. Since I was clearly not thinking straight –not that I was good with treating animals, it’s just - as I said - I can’t stand the sight of blood. Human or animal.

“Ur… you do that.” He said to me not sounding so sure himself. After a pause he asked “Is this your cat?”

I shook my head hard, smacking myself with my own hair, and carrying the cat I got up. I tried to make sure it was comfortable. I was about to walk off when Cam stopped me asking my surname. “Blake” I yelled back to him, too much in a hurry to remember I should not have given cam my name. Giving him my name I ran all the way to the pet shop I had just left, not 5 minutes ago.

Where I was telling Carly all that happened to me on the road - after I left the pet shop, I haven’t been soo embarrassed in my life (the fact that what happened will be all over school tomorrow did nothing to help me feel bette and to add salt to wound, I had oh so dumbly given him my name too, life couldn’t be better - notice the scarsm) - while the two of us were waiting for granny - she insisted us on calling her granny - to come back from the vet with news about the poor cat.

It was once I was done telling Carly what happened that I remembered my phone had vibrated when I was running to the shop, in my hurry to get to the pet shop and get the cat checked i ignored it and had completely forgotten about it, untill now hat is. Now that I remembered I checked my phone to see a facebook notification. I clicked once it to see :

Cam Striker wants to be your friend.
