After that embarrassing bathroom moment, Dastan and I finally made it downstairs. No, I’m not telling you what happened; I’ll let you make up your own assumptions, but I won’t confirm nor deny anything because it’s none of your business.
“What do you want to eat, kitten?” Dastan asks as we walk into the kitchen.
“Steak!” I moan out accidentally. I clear my throat and feel my face heat up as Dastan chuckles. “Sorry, steak, vegetables and mashed potatoes.”
“I’m guessing you and steak are a thing?” He asks teasingly as he moves to the fridge.
I nod, blushing still. “Yeah…steak is the one thing that will energize me after being completely worn out,” I answer, watching as he moves around the kitchen.
He stills and turns towards me slowly with a smirk on his face. “Really?” He drawls out.
“Ye-hey!” I exclaim, turning an even darker red as what he’s implying sets in. “You need to stop!”
He stalks towards me rapidly, making me back up just as rapidly. “Do you really want me to?” He asks as he backs me into a wall.
“Y-No!” I say, catching myself.
A heated look enters Dastan’s eyes before he leans down and captures my lips with his. I moan and move my lips against his, tasting him. His tongue licks the seam of my lips, asking for entrance, of which I gladly give him. He groans as our tongues battle for dominance. I obviously don’t win and end up submitting to the kiss, whimpering slightly.
A cough catches our attention. “As much as I’d love to watch my King eat his Queen’s face off, I’m sure others don’t. Please refrain from doing so in the kitchen where people eat food,” Max murmurs respectfully.
I pull away with a super red face, burying my face in Dastan’s chest. “Oh my gosh! No PDA!” I mutter, my words coming out kind of muffled.
Dastan chuckles. “Sorry, Max. What’s up?” He asks while pulling me into his body and helping me hide.
I sigh happily and nuzzle his chest. Thank you. I whisper through the link.
Welcome! He responds tenderly.
“Well, Your Majesty, some of the kingdoms are wondering why you’ve banished your mother and have decided to just show up without notifying us; they are waiting in the throne room and won’t leave until they get an explanation,” Max explains.
At the mention of Dastan’s mother, I stiffen slightly. I do not like talking about that woman. I murmur in my thoughts.
Me either, kitten.
I blush. Oops…I forgot our link was open…sorry!
Dastan clears his throat. “Okay, tell them that I-we will be in shortly,” he commands.
Max bows low. “Of course, Your Majesty!”
I pinch Dastan. Dastan!
Dastan yelps. “What have I told you about calling me that?” He asks.
Max smirks in my direction. “Of course, Dastan,” he tries again, making me smile at the teasing tone in his voice.
“Much better,” I say, lifting my face from Dastan’s chest.
“Hello, my Queen!” Max murmurs, bowing his head slightly in greeting.
“Hello, Max. Please, call me Spencer,” I say, pulling away from my mate.
“All right, Spencer. How’s that?”
I nod, pleased. “Very good. Now, Dastan, can you please make me steak, vegetables and mashed potatoes?” I ask, looking up at my mate with puppy dog eyes.
He groans and rubs my lower lip which I have put into a pout. “Of course; but first…” He swoops down and kisses me again; this time, it’s short, but passionate. “All right, I’ll get to work. You sit down and relax.”
I nod and make my way to the island to sit down, blushing as Max chuckles at me. “Stop it!” I whine.
“Sorry, Spencer. It’s just funny to see you blush,” he answers. “Now, I’m going to go and tell the other royals to wait. I’ll be back in a few minutes…try not to eat each other’s faces in that time!”
“No promises!” Dastan calls after him as Max walks down the hallway.
I turn even more red and bury my face in my arms. “Dastan!”
“What?” He asks, trying to sound innocent.
“Stop that! Don’t try to be innocent either! I know what you are!” I exclaim, peeking at him over the top of my arms.
He chuckles as he moves around the kitchen, gathering up things and starting to cook. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. What kind of vegetables do you want?” He asks, changing the subject.
I narrow my eyes at him as I lift my head from my arms. “Carrots and green beans,” I answer.
“Good choice; those are my favorite vegetables,” Dastan tells me.
I smile. “While they’re not my immediate favorite, I do really like them,” I say. “My favorite vegetable doesn’t do much to give me energy, so I don’t have it often.”
“What’s your favorite?”
“Lima beans and corn…succotash,” I answer, gauging his reaction.
He turns around and looks at me with a scrunched up face. “You like lima beans?” He asks incredulously.
I nod. “Yeah…they’re not as bad as everyone thinks,” I tell him. “Have you ever tried lima beans?”
He nods. “Yeah and they almost made me throw up,” he answers, shaking his head at the bad memory.
I chuckle. “Okay, okay; leave the succotash eating to me,” I say. “I don’t eat it much anyways.”
He shivers. “You definitely won’t eat it much here,” he murmurs as he continues to cook. “But I’ll cook anything else you want.”
I beam at him. “Thanks, my Angel.”
“I’m baaacccckkk!” Max sings as he waltzes in to the room.
I stare at him. “Wow…a showy little thing, aren’t you?” I ask, pursing my lips at him.
He smiles. “Well, I am a fae,” he pouts at me.
I shrug. “Whatever floats your boat,” I say, going back to watching my man.
“Max, do you want some vegetables and mashed potatoes?” Dastan asks. “I would ask about steak, but I know you’re a vegetarian.”
“I’d love some carrots and green beans with mashed potatoes!” Max exclaims after peeking over Dastan’s shoulder. “Thanks, Dastan!”
I chuckle. “You sure are special,” I mutter, watching as Max dances around the room. “Sam is like that.”
“Who’s Sam?” Max asks, stopping what he’s doing to turn to me.
I smile. “He’s my older brother,” I explain. “Sam is the only vampire I know that acts more like a fae than a vampire sometimes. But, it suits him.”
“You miss him?”
“I just saw him today…but yes, I miss him. It’s hard moving away from your home to a new one, but I’m managing. It’s a lot easier since I have my mate.” I look at Dastan affectionately as he continues to cook. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“Something smells delicious!” A big voice booms, scaring me so bad that I fall off my chair and shift involuntarily.
Seriously? I hate it when this happens! Sammy, can we go back to the room and shift back? I ask my cheetah.
She huffs. I wish; I’m kinda stuck…
I groan and walk over to Dastan, rubbing his legs. Great…
“Kitten, why are you in cheetah form?” Dastan asks, looking down as soon as I start rubbing my scent on his legs.
I huff again. I got scared and now I’m stuck!
“We’ll get you unstuck as soon as you’re done eating,” he murmurs, running a hand through the fur at the top of my head.
“Hello, brother! What’s cooking?”
Dastan’s got a brother?!
